Dr. Dipankar Chakraborti Arsenic Research Scholarship

The vision of this scholarship is to support deserving students those who are dedicated to make a difference in the areas of arsenic research regardless of their age. This is the world’s first scholarship dedicated to arsenic research. The vision of its creators is to support disadvantaged but deserving students; those who have devoted themselves to making a difference in this field, regardless of age, gender, economic status, language, race, color, religion, and nationality.

The vision is to support disadvantaged but deserving students; those who have interest, motivation, and dedication to making a difference in the areas of arsenic research. Currently, the arsenic research scholarship is for students of the P. G. Department of Environmental Science, A. N. College, Patna of Patliputra University, Bihar, India.

The Dedication

The arsenic research scholarship is dedicated to Late Dr. Dipankar Chakraborti: A legendary global scientist who devoted his life to arsenic research.

The Benefits
  • The recipient will receive a full scholarship to support their admission, tuition, and examination fees.
  • The scholarship amount will be directly deposited to the recipients’ bank account.
  • Recipients should submit scanned copies of all the receipts as proof of payment of the fees.
  • Recipients will have access to most of the journals through various scientific databases.
  • Recipients will be exposed to a range of scientists, professionals, and policymakers for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Recipients may be trained on the methodologies applied in the research project.
Scholarship Criteria
Area of Study

Recipients are free to choose their topic of research. However, priority should be given to studies focused on the socioeconomic, demographic, psychological, cultural, political, policy, and management aspects of the arsenic problem.

The Study Site

Although recipients are open to select any study site in India or abroad, it is recommended that they focus on arsenic-related challenges in Bihar, India. It is worth mentioning here that the choice of the project site will not impact the selection process.

Eligibility Criteria

Full-time Master's students - All full-time Master’s students are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Students selected for admission in the P.G. Environmental Science program can apply before or after the entry in the academic program. However, the scholarship application should be submitted before deciding topics of their Master’s thesis.

Selection Process

Application packet

  • A letter of motivation
  • A two-page biography
  • A letter of good academic standing from the students’ department

Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the scholarship sponsor, the scholarship interviewing team established by the scholarship sponsor, and Principal of A. N. College, Patna and/or the head of the P.G. Department of environmental science. The scholarship interviewing team is subject to change based on the willingness and the availability of team members.

Deliverables

  • Recipients should publish their research findings in local daily newspapers, both in Hindi and English(required)
  • Recipients should conduct at least one seminar presentation of the conclusions of the research within their department/college/university (required).
  • Recipients should submit a copy of accepted or published research results in a peer-reviewed national or international journal indexed in the Web of Science (required).
  • Recipients should train at least one undergraduate or postgraduate student on the methodology they have applied in their research (required).
  • Recipients may present their research findings at a national or international conference, workshop, or meeting (recommended).
Things to Remember
  • The selection of candidates will be solely based on their research objectives and goals, as well as on their dedication and commitment to accomplishing them.
  • No recommendation letter is required.
  • The candidates will not be discriminated based on age, gender, social status, language, race, color, caste, religion, and nationality. However, the priority should be given to Indians.
  • No personal emails/mails/phone calls by applicants or their relatives to the scholarship committee.
  • At any stage of the scholarship, if the recipients found to be involved in any unethical or anti-national activities, the award will be immediately terminated, and all support to the recipients will be revoked. In such cases, recipients have to return all the amounts they have received within one month of dismissal of the scholarship.
